OFAC has issued a Finding of Violation to American Express Travel Related Services Company (AMEX). The violation stems from allowing and processing transactions from an individual on the Specially Designated National list (SDN) which is prohibited by the Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferators Sanctions Regulations: 31 C.F.R. pt. 544. AMEX claims that this occurred due to human error and screening system defects. There will be no monetary penalties.
